SAE J343 Test and Test Procedures for SAE 100R Series
Hydraulic Hose and Hose Assemblies. Impulse, Burst, Hidrostatic
and other hydraulic teste
Publisher: SAE International Publication Date: Jan 1, 2004
This SAE Standard gives methods for testing and evaluating
performance of the SAE 100R series of hydraulic hose and hose
assemblies (hose and attached end fittings) used in hydraulic fluid
power systems.
SAE J1405 OPTIONAL Test Procedures for Hydraulic Hose
Assemblies. mpulse, Burst, Hidrostatic and other hydraulic teste
Publisher: SAE International Publication Date: Nov 1, 2005
The procedures contained in this SAE Recommended Practice
have been developed to establish uniform methods for impulse
and high temperature circulation testing of hydraulic hose
assemblies under special conditions not specified in SAE J343 for
SAE J517 hoses. Basic test procedures are to be in accordance
with SAE J343 except as modified in this document.

Fitting Assemblies (Cancelled in June 2008)
SAE MA 2002A Impulse Testing of Hydraulic Hose, Tubing and
Fitting Assemblies
Publisher: SAE International Publication Date: Jul 1, 1988
Arp1383 This SAE ARP establishes minimum requirements for
impulse testing of aerospace hydraulic actuators, valves, pressure
containers, and similar fluid system components, except
accumulators, for use in aerospace hydraulic systems.
AS603 SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes impulse testing
of hose, tubing, and fitting assemblies for use in aerospace
hydraulic systems.

83282 Vehicle Hydraulic Systems
Document Number: AIR4713 Date Reaffirmed: August 2002
Issuing Committee: SAE A-6c3 Fluids Committee
Aircraft hydraulic fluids fall under various specifications:
Common petroleum-based:
Mil-H-5606: Mineral base, flammable, fairly low flashpoint, usable
from -65 °F (-54 °C) to 275 °F (135 °C), red color
Mil-H-83282: Synthetic hydrocarbon base, higher flashpoint, self-
extinguishing, backward compatible to -5606, red color
Mil-H-87257: A development of -83282 fluid to improve its low
temperature viscosity.
Phosphate-ester based:
BMS 3-11: Skydrol 500B-4, Skydrol LD-4, Skydrol 5 and Exxon
HyJetIV-A plus – Typically light purple, not compatible with
petroleum-based fluids, will not support combustion.
